Cuthbert,

I hope for the sake of the Club and the very regular visiting anglers like myself, that you're right and that the battle with the Duke has not been lost. One thing is for certain, the Club has deep internal problems that it needs to address and it needs to get itself on a stong and transparent financial footing if is survive in the long term.

here's the way i see it!!!!! there are people on this site hell bent on destroying our club and a right few of them are probably members of sion ( the unhappy ones ha ha)! we will all be fishing as usual this season an it will be up to us all to stand together to keep it ours!!!! the committee have had a tough time fightin off the opposition but it looks like all is ok now( at least for this year) so think before you all fall into the trap of the divide and conquer gang
cause there will be no way back from that if that crowd get away with it.
stand together an stop all this nonsense bitchin at each other.
i'm away again i hate what goes on in this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you have been paying 20 for some of the best fishing in ireland now it looks like the clubs being forced to charge 40 and your complaining ,wise up your listening to too many old women with there poison pens just cause they cant get their own way.think about it mill racer if danny was allowed to guide on sion waters there would be no sht talk about the club on this forum ,its a bad case of sour grapes ,time will be coming real soon when the allegations will have to be proven,we will see who comes out of that one intact, its easy to talk sht about someone when they dont respond to the allegations but that time is just about over, there were more important things to worry about like keeping the club for the members but thats over now and other matters will be dealt with ,give a man enough rope and all that and plenty was given ,nearly time for the lynching.

Salar,

I'm all for the survival of a local Club, if only because I don't want the Duke to divvy up the fishing into half days and shoehorn 48 anglers a day at forty quid onto the river using a pre-booking system. The greedy bastard is looking to screw a couple of thousand quid a day from the Club and/or visitors. But if you think for one minute it would be fair for your Club is to charge £40 a day to a visitor and then pay less than this for their annual subs, whenever it doesn't own the rights and doesn't do a single thing to protect and enhance the fishery then you're no better than the Duke himself. I'm happy to pay a fair price for my ticket but it isn't forty quid. Believe me, there won't be a queue of visiting anglers willing to pay forty quid a day - I know this because (apart from weekends)you didn't sell twenty tickets a day when it was £15. So when the day ticket money doesn't roll into the Dukes account next year, who do you think will be paying more the following year to make up the shortfall? The Club members of course. So if you think it's a good idea to charge £40 a day to visitors - think again, because I can tell you this, I fish it as a visitor more than most and I won't be paying £40.

didnt hear that day tickets were going up andi but sions not the only club that charges that kind of money, ive fished plenty scottish rivers on association waters where its 55 for the day and 50 for the season for locals its a very common occurance, and they were not half the water sion is when the grilse are running.
