The derg river needs proper protection , a poacher using his dog are netting ...........the dog is used to stir up pools.

also ........irespective of what rumours are going around ......the foyle bailiffs are not asking for club membership tickets , i think they have enough on their hands
sorry for the spelling ..in a rush

I seen a good fish out of the Derg earlier this evening down by Spamount, caught on a worm by a local fella with red hair, bout 9 pound I reckon, he put it back(a CockFish).

A big row on the derg waters because the Derg 'club' is claiming fishing rites which they don't have/own (allegedly) aswell as manhandling people off the banks. This could get messy.

Heard a few young fellas(locals) were told to leave the river by bailifs from derg anglers on a stretch that isnt even theirs.
Incidentally I was up around tulnashane yesterday (21/7) and seen three anglers fishing the spawning beds below the smolt factory, have they no shame at all ffs.

They are not asking for club tickets because they have no authority to do so. I know because I asked one. :D

Sad to say but this river is being poached by a gang of four different teams working together on a regular basis and I have been reliably told that they have taken over 200 Fish from around the aghyaran area near the spawning beds in the last fortnight during low water and have never once seen a sign of a bailiff.
It's so sad to know this and nothing being done to prevent it. :(
