The foyle system is a large catchment area which consists of several
main tributaries within her three counties of Tyrone , Derry, and
Donegal.
Seasons vary with spring salmon angling commencing on the
River Finn on the first day of March until the 15th day of September each
year .
The fishing on the remaining rivers commence on the 1st day
of April until the 20th day of October with the exception of the river
Faughan .
All commercial fishing on this majestic waterway of the Foyle has been
suspended over the past few years due to a decrease in salmon and sea
trout stocks.
A conservation programme is currently in force with the
rivers Foyle and Finn on a catch and release restriction until all
tributaries to the river Finn itself fully recover.
All other rivers to the foyle system especially the river Mourne have a
excellent healthy Spring and Autumn run of good medium sized salmon.
We have found however a serious decline in our summer grilse run and also a
reduction in size with grilse weighing as little as 1 kilo. |
